Our successful Coaching programme is the curriculum of the ‘Heart’ that focuses on personal, social and emotional development of our students in order to empower our young people to take on the world.  We deliver a robust programme of PSHE, RSE as well as facilitating a space for students to wrestle with big ideas through Philosophy for Children. Underpinning the whole curriculum is our Oracy toolkit which supports students in being able to communicate their ideas. Coaches not only facilitate the learning in this space but are also the key trusted adult for the students in their coaching groups. In your role as Coaching Leader.

The role of Coaching Leader is an innovative School 21 take on the traditional Head of Year role, supporting this team. You will manage the wellbeing, behaviour, academic progress and attendance of a year group. Alongside this, you will support your coaches with their delivery of the School21 coaching curriculum. You will develop and lead assemblies, assist with parent evenings and liaise with external agencies as and when needed.

As Coaching Leader for Year 8, you will set the highest standards for student behaviour and attitude to study and show a systematic perseverance and determination to maintain these standards. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised, charismatic and ambitious individual to join our successful, friendly and committed team. Your workload will have strong academic as well as pastoral elements and is excellent preparation for a range of senior- middle/ senior leadership positions.

School 21 is a very special and different kind of place to work in.  All of us are striving to become pioneers (rethinking key aspects of education practice), multipliers (growing others and building teams), craftspeople (who think deeply about their practice) and people with integrity and humanity (driven by a strong sense of values and purpose).  This is what we are looking for in new members of staff.   We empower staff to find their voice and their creativity.   We offer collaboration and learning across ages and subjects.  We believe strongly in developing the full potential of all staff.

Through project-based learning “pupils achieve remarkable standards of work and demonstrated knowledge and skills at levels beyond those expected for their age group.”

“Pupils talk and discuss with a maturity and confidence that is remarkable for their years.”
