Vacancy

SEN Learning Teaching Assistant (LSA) / Pupil Achievement Coach/Teaching Assistant (Primary/Secondary School, ideally with ADHD/ASD experience)

Salary information: Scale 3, Point 5 - £23,122 - pro rated for 41 weeks
Start date: ASAP
Location: London - Stratford, Newham
Contract type: Permanent, subject to an enhanced DBS check.

This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to be part of something special and to make a real difference.  We give our Pupil Achievement Coaches the chance to be creative, collaborative and develop skills, passions and attributes in all children.   We are building a great team of people who are innovative, practical and determined to deliver for our children.

Working with class teachers predominantly in-class you will raise the learning and attainment of pupils with special needs in the primary school.  You will promote pupils’ independence, self esteem and social inclusion and give support to pupils, so that they can access the curriculum, take part in learning and experience a sense of achievement.

We are particularly interested in hearing from you if you have experience of supporting secondary students with ASD or SEMH.

We want all our Pupil Achievement Coaches to develop an expertise.  There are three main pathways:

  • Being a champion of literacy and numeracy helping children achieve these fundamental skills.
  • Being a specialist in supporting individuals and groups of children who have specific learning needs.
  • Monitoring children who sometimes struggle with their behaviour.

In each area you will go the extra mile for pupils who face particular learning challenges to ensure they make outstanding progress.

This role will be right for you if you have:

  • Experience of working with children with special needs, ideally with ASD or SEMH  experience
  • Passion, resilience, integrity and optimism
  • A belief in the unlimited potential of every student and a commitment to inclusive educational provision
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Good organisational skills and initiative
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with pupils and adults
  • Knowledge of how to help, adapt and deliver support to meet individual needs

As we are an all-through school you will be part of a team across the whole 4 to 18 school.  Although you will be based in the secondary school there will be many opportunities to share practice.  And of course the whole team will be united in the view that all children can succeed.
