Teaching Assistant (Primary) (Perm + Part Time)

JOB PROFILE

Primary Teaching Assistant at School 21 will play a central role in establishing and maintaining the culture and ethos of the school. In all your interactions with pupils, teachers and parents you will display the highest levels of professionalism, efficiency and empathy. You will go the extra mile for pupils who face particularly chaotic lifestyles. You will take responsibility for ensuring effective systems are maintained for the behaviour monitoring and tracking of all pupils in order to ensure that exceptional progress is made by all pupils.

We are particularly interested in hearing from you if you have experience of supporting secondary students as well. 

• Supporting and managing learning opportunities for pupils across the Key Stage 1 (Year 1 and 2) and lower Key Stage 2 (Year 3 and 4)
• Liaising with members of teaching staff to ensure all pupils make exceptional progress
• Developing literacy strategies with the teaching staff
• Liaising with outside agencies to ensure all pupils make exceptional progress
• Liaising closely with parents

This role will be right for you if you have:

• A passion for working with children
•  A good understanding of how to monitor and track the progress of students
• A good understanding of how you, as an adult, can create a culture of high expectations
• An understanding of the complex lives some students lead
• A good understanding of safeguarding issues
• A good understanding of first aid (desirable)
• A knowledge of child learning processes and development stages
• Awareness of the implications of equal opportunities on educational practice

As we are an all-through school you will be part of a team across the whole 4 to 18 school.  Although you will be based in the secondary school there will be many opportunities to share practice.  And of course the whole team will be united in the view that all children can succeed.
