Community Newsletter December 2025

Welcome to our December 25 Newsletter

Dear School 21 families,

I want to thank you all for an extraordinary term. Your positive engagement with the potential Big Education and Oasis merger has been inspiring, and it has been wonderful to see the supportive responses from our community. We will be hosting parent sessions to answer questions and share more information about the merger. Thank you also for taking part in last month’s Marketplace project vote. Your involvement makes a real difference for our students.

All of our students continue to shine through their kindness, effort, and creativity. We warmly invite you to our Festival of Light performances (tickets available on Arbour), and we send our best wishes to students preparing for GCSE, A-level mock exams, and Primary assessments. You make us proud every day.

We will be finishing the term on Friday, 19th December at 12:30 pm. We hope you enjoy a peaceful and joyful break with your family. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on TUESDAY, 6th January at 8:30 am.

With warm wishes,
Moray Dickson
Headteacher

Primary school council

We are excited to launch our new Primary School Council. Our councillors will help show visitors around our wonderful school, work on projects like our Kindness Campaign, lead assemblies and be a voice for positive change. We are very proud of the pupils who stepped up to take part, and we also want to congratulate everyone who put themselves forward as a candidate. Well done to all!

The Guardian visit

Residential trip to Jamie’s Farm (Year 7)

This month, the first group of our Year 7 students will go on a residential trip to Jamie’s Farm. The trip is fully funded for all year 7 students, and is a great opportunity for students to experience five days of adventure in the Welsh countryside, under the guidance of Bertha Earth.

Learning in action!

It’s been a brilliant few weeks across Years 2, 3 and 4. Year 2 became real-life geographers on their trip to Westcliff, sketching the coastline and carrying out a beach litter survey. Year 3 explored the Natural History Museum, taking part in an exciting volcano workshop and discovering fossils to deepen their science learning. Meanwhile, Year 4 investigated animals, microhabitats and microclimates, even conducting temperature experiments around the school to understand where plants grow best. A huge well done as well to our primary pupils who have begun assessment week, your perseverance has been inspiring!
