On Monday 24th March, School 21 opened its doors and welcomed visitors from all over the country to our Oracy…Requires Improvement exhibition. This was an important milestone for the school, showcasing one of our core practices and making the case for high-quality education being a driver of whole school improvement. Of course we kicked off with some amazing speeches from two year 10 students about how Oracy has impacted their confidence and ability to express themselves in any setting. We then heard from Liz Robinson, who spoke about the 4 Big Education values and the importance of schools living those values in the face of increasing external pressures.

The main event was a series of teachmeet presentations, a culmination of a term's worth of Oracy training modules which all School 21 took part in. Staff spoke to packed-out rooms about how Oracy has served as a vehicle to improve an aspect of their practice within our key school priorities (Curriculum, Behaviour, Adaptive Teaching and Literacy).

The event was a huge success, showing the best of what our school can be and hopefully providing the energy and momentum to drive us forward into the next steps of our journey.
