LEARNING AT SCHOOL 21:

Huge congratulations to the winners of our Spanish Christmas Card competition!

Year 1

Year 1 have started their History topic. We are learning all about the Great Fire of London. For our Hook we worked in teams to build houses. We then went outside to watch them burn just how Pudding Lane burnt down in 1666!

Year 2

This week in year 2 we have started reading our new book for English 'I was a rat' by Philip Pullman. The children have been working in hoop groups to discuss their predictions about the story, they have also been thinking of various adjectives and expanded noun phrases that could be used to describe our main character Bob and Joan. We are very excited for our new project which will be looking at how we have followed in the footsteps of The Victorians!

Year 4

Year 4 have got ourselves caught in the African Sahara as we immersed ourselves in our Lion King day and began to prepare for our school musical, which will be happening during the summer term. Over the next few months, we will learn songs, scenes and dances which will prepare us to put on a spectacular musical at the end of year 4.

Year 5

The students have really enjoyed their first week back at school! In year 5, we have been exploring how we can use figurative language to create a character description. Students shared their ideas with each other and then used these to develop their own pieces of written work.

Year 6

This week in Year 6, we have been exploring geometry. In particular, we have been looking at angles on a straight line, inside a triangle and inside a quadrilateral. We used masking tape to create a straight line and then asked our partners to calculate the missing angle!

Sleep hygiene in children and young people: Information for families

This information sheet from Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) explains about sleep

hygiene. The lead-up and routine around your child’s bedtime is referred to as ’sleep

hygiene’. Having good sleep hygiene can help your child both to settle to sleep and to stay

asleep. There are several things that parents can do to help – read the information sheet here for details.
