Dear Parents and Carers,
We have some exciting learning shared in this week’s newsletter that I hope that you will take a moment to engage with. From guidance on how to stay safe in the sun from our reception students, Year 6 spark speeches about the Sustainable Development Goals, Y7 Dragon’s Den Trailblazer project and authentic discussions with the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards in Year 12 politics – it’s been engaging and empowering all round.
Next year we will be making some changes to our timetable to enable us to have really strong starts to our day and to build ‘crew’ and a sense of belonging. As you may know we were set up with crew – and ‘circling up’ – as one of our ways of working and we are looking forward to continuing building this as an important part of our school and ensuring a strong sense of belonging and pride. I was really lucky this week to be able to see this in action at XP School in Doncaster – a school founded at a similar time to School 21 and one that has similar educational philosophy to ours – as well as meet Heads from schools and organisations across the UK.
We are really proud to have our ‘musicathon’ happening next weekend – do see below for more details – and also to be part of the ‘Save our Subjects’ campaign to protect the arts in school education. Do use the hashtag #SaveOurSubjects to find more on twitter and to sign the open letter to Gillian Keegan to campaign for more funding in the arts, amongst other areas.
Wishing you a lovely weekend ahead,
Nicola Mason, Headteacher
